Wellington Point Family Photographer

Sometimes the most treasured photographs that I capture of my own children are the impromptu afternoon walks where I just take my camera along “ just for fun”. These beautiful photos where captured at our local Wellington Point beach on Brisbane south side. It is a special little spot and at low tide you can walk out to a little Island called King Island. When I was a child my Opi would take me for walks to the Island every week and finish with an ice-cream. On the walk back home I would always reach my arms up, prompting him to pick me up and carry me back as my little legs would tire. Some of my fondest memories happened on these sand banks. Memories that now mean more than ever now he is no longer with us.

I hope my girls also feel the magic of this special spot so close to our home. I haven’t often enjoyed photographing here in previous years. The sand is far from white, the mud is slippery and slodgy and I guess it was sometimes hard for me to see the beauty in this spot I saw every day.

After standing back though and gaining some perspective. There is so much beauty in its dark, gritty- shelly sand, the way the sun lights up the sea and it’s warm golden tones.

A reminder to take a step back, gain perspective and capture what is truly important.
